General requirements for inclusion in our pool of translators are that the translator must be a native speaker of the target language and preferably resident in the target country; he or she will possess a degree in the source language, translation studies, or one similar. Also, membership of a recognised language association/institute (i.e. ITI, ATA, etc) would be a distinct advantage. Technology is central to the translation process so we would expect our translators to possess fairly recent computer hardware and software (MS Office, Trados, Wordfast), plus two valid email accounts (one as backup) as most of our business is transacted by this method. Lastly, we prefer to pay overseas translators/agencies using PayPal or Moneybookers. We can use the standard bank transfer method but bank charges will be charged to the payee. |
